This folder contains files of interest to BerZerker users, for various reasons. forward, procmailrc -- Samples of procmail setup files ------------------------------------------------------- To filter email that has been tagged as SPAM to a "spam" folder that you have setup, copy forward to ~/.forward and copy procmailrc to ~/.procmailrc: cp /var/www/share/forward ~/.forward cp /var/www/share/procmailrc ~/.procmailrc You may wish to edit your copy of .procmailrc in particular to do additional filtering. putty.exe -- A console program for logging into your account's shell -------------------------------------------------------------------- Download putty.exe and run it, connecting to "ssh.berzerker.net" using the ssh protocol. When asked, be sure and "accept" the security key (you'll only be asked on the initial login). You will then be logged into a bash shell on your account. Type "exit" to leave the shell. getimgdir -- A linux script for installing/updating ImgDir ---------------------------------------------------------- ImgDir is a picture/video thumbnail viewer written by myself and provided to BerZerker users. The getimgdir script is a perl script that can be used on a linux computer to automatically download the latest version of ImgDir and install it in a directory. In general, it is safe to run this in a directory which contains a previous installaion, but if the pictures are really important or you are especiallly paranoid, back them up first. Run the getimgdir script witout any arguments to read the usage statement. coreftplite1.3.exe -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DOWNLOAD! ----------------------------------------------- Coreftplite is a free SECURE ftp program for XP. We HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you use this program for transferring files to and from BerZerker (or any other place you would normally use ftp). If you already have a favorite ftp program that supports Secure FTP (e.g. CureFTPPro), you can use that instead of CoreFTPLite, but we've found CoreFTPLite to be the best totally free and legal ftp program to support Secure FTP. Here's some additional background information: When using traditional ftp, your login and password information is sent over the internet via cleartext and is relatively easy for hackers to intercept and thus gain access to your account. If you use a browser such as Internet Explorer to ftp files, it's even worse because your login and password are sent as part of the URL when tranferring files (you might have even noticed it in the status line of your browser during xfer). Traditionally, ftp is one of the largest security loopholes. Secure ftp (or ftp over ssh) solves this problem by encrypting the login information. Furthermore, the actual file contents themselves are encrypted during the transfer providing you with even more security from hackers and snoopers. -- IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT HOW TO USE CoreFTP -- All you have to do to start using secure ftp is to download and install this program and, when setting up the connection to ftp.berzerker.net, select the "SSH/SFTP" option in the Site Manager window. This will cause the Port to automatically change to the standard secure ftp port number, 22. When you first connect, you will be prompted to save the encryption key for BerZerker -- you will only be asked this once for each site you connect to, unless for some reason the key for BerZerker changes. -- SPECIFIC SETUP INSTRUCTIONS -- Here is a step-by-step guide to setting up CoreFTP to connect to BerZerker. - Start Core FTP Lite - Select "Sites/Site Manager" menu option (or click on first button) - Enter "BerZerker" for Site Name (or any identifying name - for your use) - Enter "ftp.berzerker.net" for Host - Uncheck the Anonmyous box (BerZerker does not support anonymous ftp) - Enter your login name for your BerZerker acct under Username - Enter your BerZerker password under Password - CHECK THE "SSH/SFTP" BOX (this will change port to 22) - Click on "Connect" to test the connection - Accept and save the BerZerker encrytion key when asked. - You shoudl be good to go now -- and this site information will be saved for your future use.
